How can lip fillers help me?

As we age our lips tend to lose definition and volume. Dermal fillers volumise the lips and smooth out existing wrinkles around the mouth making them appear fuller, more youthful and natural.

Our lip filler treatment contains Hyaluronic Acid – a naturally-occurring substance that helps the skin look and feel more supple and healthy.

What do I need to bear in mind when considering a treatment?

In order to get the best treatment and results possible, you should only consider a fully-qualified (and ideally medically-trained) facial aesthetics practitioner. Any lip augmentation treatment should be performed privately in a medical environment that is spotlessly clean.

What does lip filler treatment involve?

After disinfecting the area to be treated, the dermal fillers are injected into the body of the lip using an extremely fine needle to add volume – this produces a more natural result than injecting into the lip line.

After the injection, the treated area may be gently massaged to even out the result.

What kind of results can I expect?

The results are immediate and you’ll be shown how things are progressing in the mirror throughout the treatment to ensure you get the results you’re looking for. We aim for a natural look that will leave you feeling more confident and happy about yourself and the way you look.

Is the treatment painful?

Twenty minutes prior to the treatment, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to the lips to ensure the treatment is a comfortable as possible.

Additionally, the Restylane lip fillers we use also contain an integrated local anaesthetic and, as dentists, we’re also able to administer a further local anaesthetic to numb the area further if required.

How long does the treatment take?

Getting just the right look for your lips takes time and we don’t rush the treatment. You’ll have a local anaesthetic cream applied to the lips about 20 minutes before your treatment and in total you’ll be with us between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

Are there any side effects?

As the treatment involves injections, you may experience some localised bruising, redness or swelling for a few days. It’s also natural that your lips may feel a little tender during this time.

How long do lip fillers last?

Lip filler treatments are non-permanent and so the effects gradually diminish over time. The Restylane treatment we use contains Hyaluronic Acid which produces results which last an average of 6-12 months. Top up treatments are available.

Why choose a dentist to carry out this procedure?

As dentists we are experts in the anatomy of the face, the delivery of pain-free treatments and anaesthetics, and placing injections with exact precision.

We also maintain a sterile environment to avoid infection and cross-contamination as a matter of course. These factors make choosing a dentist for your facial aesthetics treatments over a local beautician an ideal choice.

Where do you provide your dermal filler treatments?

Our treatments are conducted at our dental clinic in Alsager – conveniently located for people in the Stoke on Trent, Crewe, Congleton, Kidsgrove and Sandbach areas.
